Using "nor" in an English sentence.

"I am not an English teacher nor do I know much about English grammar."

Am I using "nor" properly in the above sentence? Please support your answer.

Yes, you can use 'nor' like that (the technical expression is as a coordinating conjunction). It would certainly be acceptable in common speech or writing.

Point #2 is now an "Accepted" way to use "Nor."

So your usage here is acceptable.

"Ni...ni" se traduce a veces por "neither...nor", pero más a menudo por "either...or".

"No soy colombiano, ni soy venezolano" - I am not Colombian, nor am I Venezuelan. I am not Colombian or Venezuelan. (se omite el verbo en el último ejemplo)

"No tengo ni pluma ni lápiz." - I don't have either a pen or a pencil. ("I have neither pen nor pencil" suena raro, pero se entiende.)
