La Noche en Blanco, do you have anything like this in your country?
Hi Everybody
So this is where I spent my night, what a night!!!
La Noche en Blanco (Idoma for : to stay up all night, not sleep all night) had a lot to offer.
We saw this.
First we went to la cuesta de Santo Domingo, where a French artist was performing an amazing act or "danza vertical" hanging at about 30 metres . This was at 11pm.
Then we went to el Palacio Real, where you could enter the kitchen area not open to the public ever and see how the cooks were preparing meals.

We don't have anything that resembles an all night party like you are describing, unless one of our sports teams wins a championship. When that happens you can hear cars honking and people partying into the wee hours of the morning.
However, one celebration unique to Philadelphia is our yearly Mummer's Parade, which is celebrated every January 1st. The Mummers are divided and judged in four different categories: Comics, Fancies and String Bands and Fancy Brigades. In each division, there are many individual mummers clubs who compete against each other. Each club has its own captain. It is really quite competitive. As soon as the parade is over each year, they begin planning ideas for the next year.
Here is a video which gives you an idea of a what a typical mummers band sounds like.
This was happening in the beautiful Gran Vía, giant swings for all ages . And people...people, people....jejej
This is wonderful! What a night you must have had.
In Boston we have First Night, which is held on New Year's Eve. There are artist making ice sculptures, music bands, lots of food, etc. and lots of people to celebrate the new year.
I have never been to Boston's First Night because usually the temperatures are around 20F or -6C!
And how about a longboard meeting? Here you can see what the town looked like, crowded!!! We came home at around 4..but the night was in full blow!
Skaters meeting in Noche en Blanco
This was really last year, but the crowd was the some...what do you think? Almost nobody eh?
Nice to hear. I read about it in wiki.
We have 'Sivarathari' dedicated to lord Shiva...
People in my hometown used to fast all day and do some special pujas for shiva. Then in the evening they pack the food and go to the riverside area or to the temples and they eat the dinner there along with all the others from the town... Sometimes the folk artists used to perform.
But this is not happening anymore in cities :(
We used to celebrate New Year Eve all night long in the beaches in Chennai. Actually it is not safe to go out in the night here :(
In Melbourne we have a week long festival called "Moomba" , with a myriad of
activities along the riverbank , water pageants, home made flying machines taking off from a bridge into the "Yarra " river, and there are plays and concerts each night , a big parade on the last day with colorful floats and dancers from around the world , and on the last night a gigantic fireworks display on the banks of the Yarra, It is a week when Melbourne lets its hair down and enjoys all that our multicultural society has on offer , it is quite an exciting time to be in Melbourne around the first week in March the start of our Autumn .
When I lived in Portland Me they had an allnight street fair and musical sampling. No way there were as many people there as what you show in your photos.Too many people for me!
Mardi Gras in New Orleans was probably the biggest street party I have ever been to.
La Noche en Blanco parece que sería divertido. Mi preferencia sería La Tomatina contigo porque me pusiste en el Dunce Corner tantos veces.
Looks like a great time. Was it really noisy? (I would probably need earplugs). Your pictures are fantastic!

Which one is you?
Wow! What an amazing time you have had! I really hope to make it to the next one. Is it the same time every year?
I love, love, love, the New Orleans Mardi Gras and it is party time all day and all night for as long as you can stay awake! They have it down to a science! They make a"King Cake' that I am hooked on! lol The Mardi Gras is all about parades, jazz and amazing Creole food! Of course all kinds of drinks, if you care to indulge. A Steamboat ride on the Mississippi River is a must.
