Not sure about this, but... I was talking to my neighbor today who is from PR about the difference of 'LL' words.. and by this I mean words like 'llama' etc.
Anyways, I was curious about the 'izch' sound (acting as a fricative vs. a velative sound) or 'yyah' sound that seems to prevalent on certain words that contain the 'LL' (double-LL), and truly she was baffled, because I asked her if I should aspire to make the "izch" sound, or "yyah" and what we figured-out was that both seem to be acceptable, and used without conscious effort.
