Hi, Lance. Welcome to the forum.

Here are some examples using the verb "ser" to mean "we are" --

Somos amigos (We are friends)

Somos estadounidenses (We are from the United States)

Somos altos (We are tall)

Here are some examples using the verb "estar" for "we are" ---

Estamos en Nueva York (We are in NY)

I'm not sure what you're asking here, but "somos" is the form of the verb "ser" that corresponds to "nosotros"

so..."somos" is equivalent to "we are"
