Me gustas mucho, me gustas mucho tú

This is a lyric from a really cute song. But I can´t figure out what she is saying exactly. I´ve always had difficulty with the third person thing with gustar. Me gustas, I would think means ¨you like me,¨ but then I´m totally lost when she says me gustas mucho tú.

The translators come up with some really wierd stuff so that´s no help. Here are all the lyrics to the whole song if anyone is interested.

Me gustas mucho, me gustas mucho tú Tarde o temprano seré tuyo y mío tú serás Me gustas mucho, me gustas mucho tú Tarde o temprano seré tuyo y mío tú serás

Que conste amor que ya te lo advertí que no Descansaré hasta que seas mio no mas Pues tu me gustas de hace tiempo mucho tiempo atrás.

Me gustas mucho, me gustas mucho tú

you are very pleasing to me or I like you a lot.

It is not a 3rd person thing. Gustas is 2nd person, familiar (tú)

In these intransitive sentences with gustar-like verbs (encantar, interesar, molestar, etc.) the subject and indirect object switch places when translated to English.

me gustas tú (you are pleasing to me)

I like you.

she's basically singiing about :-

I have not lost hope of you in my arms . And the day will come . It is a long time that I like you - What I really like , I get . Surely , I have not lost hope that one day you love me . I want you someday , be mine sooner or later . I will be yours one day and I have to make the record . love that I warned you , I will not rest until you are mine . I liked you for some time now . I really like you , I like a lot . Sooner or later it will be you and me . I really like you , I like you a lot , sooner or later it will be you and me . For the record , I warned you that I will not rest until you are mine . I've liked you for a long long time .

I hope this helps you in some way . It is hard to translate some things exactly from Spanish to or vice versa , but I know this song and I'm sure enough this is what it would be written in English . I have been living in Spain for 5 years now and have taught myself to speak Spanish , I am not totally fluent but then again I am English and do not know EVERY word in the English language ! .

Okay, so I had it backwards. I thought ¨me gustas¨was ¨you like me¨ in the same way that ¨me amas¨is ¨you love me.¨ Then, in the context of the song, I was trying to make ¨me gustas mucho tú¨come out like you like me too, but that made no sense either.

So, "Me gustas mucho" and "me gustas mucho tú" both mean I like you? Just making sure.

Thanks for your brilliance!
