How do you say "hot dogs" in Spanish?

I've seen them simply described in Mexico/Cuba as "perros calientes" which I found rather disappointing! Not a very exotic spanish description, but then I suppose hot dogs aren't that exciting!
"Perritos calientes" es lo más común en España, pero si ya esta hecho, o sea el pan con la salchicha y el ketchup, sobre todo adoptado por verlo en las películas americanas. A la salchicha también se la llama a veces frankfurt, aunque sea un tipo de salchicha alemana.
Costa Rica : "perros calientes"
Puerto Rico: "perros calientes"
Mexico: "perros calientes"
The most common translation is "perritos calientes"
I know in Puerto Rico they call them hot dogs but the older folk on the island call them "franfuras" or in english frankfurters. Hope this helps
If Pan de Hot Dog is any indicación, ...
In southern countries of South America its called "salchichas", "panchos" (usually when it includes the bread) or "frankfurters".
And why did perritos calientes pop into my head?
i think they are salchicas.
