Franfura; been calling it this since I was a little gal. I grew up with my grandmother who never called it "perros calientes" but "franfura" instead. :) - AndreaMichelle, Sep 11, 2014

I've seen them simply described in Mexico/Cuba as "perros calientes" which I found rather disappointing! Not a very exotic spanish description, but then I suppose hot dogs aren't that exciting!

I know in Puerto Rico they call them hot dogs but the older folk on the island call them "franfuras" or in english frankfurters. Hope this helps

In southern countries of South America its called "salchichas", "panchos" (usually when it includes the bread) or "frankfurters".
