e-mail hacking issues
After I signed up to get the Word of the Day, my e-mail has been sending spam and seems to have been hacked.
Does anyone else have this kind of issue with this website or do you think it was caused by something else?

And in answer to your question, no I don't think SD has been hacked but be assured anything you ask or answer here is immediately available and can be found by a google search anywhere in the world.
I never realized that until I had been on this site over a year. (I didn't use Google search at the time). It was quite a shock to me to see that our threads are available on the open Internet. I had always though that you had to be a member to read these threads. I never considered where all of those wordreference.com, etc. discussions that I always research were coming from.
I just googled "e-mail hacking issues" and there is a link to this thread. Funny, though, knowing that the entire world can read this reply hasn't improved the quality of my replies any.
Probably just coincidental- I've never had any problems.
Hmm, I use hotmail. But, I think it's probably just a coincidence. I changed my password and it seems to have stopped, thanks for the input!
I get the usual amount of spam. I don't think I noticed a big difference. Do you use a spam block program?
I was amazed at the amount of spam I got after signing up for SD.
But I don't think it was all SD's fault, I should have known better.
One of the questions in the profile asked for a website. I gave mine.
And I have removed it. The Spanish ads diminished, the rest continue.
I have a website, therefore I get spammed.
I wouldn't say hacked as much as simply found by those bots that do nothing but seek strings with the @ symbol in them.
I smile when people post comments that start @Late .... @Gekko ... any thing to confuse those routines.
I've come to live with it, part of why my friends don't expect answers to emails sent to that address, because I only sift through once or twice a week for all of the spam. You only have to get on one list and its junktime, get on two lists and time for a new address.
If you share your address with a friend electronically always give it to them bass ackwards. Disguise it somehow and avoid the @ symbol.
And in answer to your question, no I don't think SD has been hacked but be assured anything you ask or answer here is immediately available and can be found by a google search anywhere in the world. Trust me.
I've had no problems like that with this site and yes I get word of the day.
probably someting else. Nothing like that has happened to me.
I signed up for email Word of the Day, no problems, no spam. Did you visit other websites lately that could have anything to do with your problem?
