I can't link to the post, but there was some discussion about whether tienda de campaña referred to a general purpose camping tent or just to military tents. Here is an article from the Spanish newspaper El País that refers to it as a general purpose camping tent.

I've slept many times in a "tienda de campaña", and I don't remember seeing any war around me. I was just camping.

tienda (de campaña)

  1. f. Armazón de palos hincados en tierra y cubierta con telas o pieles sujetas con cuerdas, que sirve de alojamiento o aposentamiento en el campo, especialmente en la guerra.

You wouldn't happen to have the instructions on how you fold up those wooden foundations and toss them in the back of your pick-up truck, would you? Or is that the wood for your next site's campfire?

I've built similar foundations for other projects. You wouldn't want to carry one in a backpack. - KevinB, Sep 8, 2010
