La manta vs. la frazada

Please explain to me what is the difference between these two words? Both mean " blanket"

Frazada is a type of furry blanket, and manta is any blanket.

"Manta" in definitely "blanket" in Spain, but in Mexico it is a generic word that can also refer to any sort of large piece of cloth. For example, if a "banner" sort of thing is hung from a bridge in Mexico, it is also referred to as a "manta".

In Venezuela a "frazada" is the word of choice for any sort of blanket.

One blanket could be defined by three different words, depending on where you are in the Spanish speaking world: manta, frazada or cobija. (And there are probably other regional ways; maybe someone will add some.)

Just to add to what Lazarus said:

A regular blanket can be "manta" (Spain) or "cobija" (México), depending on where you are. Therefore, it's great to learn both words.
