¿Error de tecleo?

¿Error de tecleo?

This was a subject in a forum. I zoomed in on tecleo in the question thinking the post was about a computer problem ¡jeje! I wrote

Creo la palabra quireres es 'ortografía'. Tecleo es para the 'keyboard' cualquiera el piano o la computadora.

Later I noticed that tambien might be better than cualquiera. Porque Tecleo es para the 'keyboard' tambien el piano o la computatdora.

Lastly, I'm concerned about para for para la teclado o el piano. Is para correct? It seems to be the recipient of el tecleo.

I'd appreciate any thoughts and corrections!

Good question re the por vs para (see my note to Quentin below) if you fancy some practice with those two there's a game just for you :) http://www.spanishdict.com/answers/153129/g-a-m-e-por-vs-para - Kiwi-Girl, Sep 4, 2010

Keyboard.... Teclado

You can place the blame on the keyboard Error del teclado or you can blame your lack of spelling knowlege Error de la ortografía.

It all depends upon how you choose to impress someone.

I would always blame it on the keyboard if I could get away with it.

Off topic aside:

error de tipografía

Includes both printing (typesetting) errors and keyboard (typing) errors, but not spelling errors. Includes hitting two keys at once (piano error-hand/finger slip).

typographical error

You might use incluso as well as también.

Para sounds ok to me. If you used something like " la palabra, tecleo, es usada por... " it is going to look like passive voice where what follows the por is an agent. (by, rather than for)

Quentin wouldn't it be 'por' as in a substition rather than para as in recipient - eg palabra por palabra - word for word. Just asking but could be way off lol :) - Kiwi-Girl, Sep 4, 2010

That is interesting how the abbreviations are capitalized. It looks like the typing, type and spelling errors may be ways of saying the same thing. Thanks Q for taking the time to walk through it with me.

I've been thinking about getting a new keyboard too as the one I have is giving me problems raspberry

No idea how Spanish envisions the terms. For me a typing error would include typing their for there, but I guess that is more of a spelling error. A typo usually refers to an error with one character. So is typing there for There or esta instead of está a typing error, a typo or a spelling error?

The only thing I know about the original question, then, is that Spanish has different rules concerning capitalization.

el señor Gonzales

but if señor is abbreviated it is

el Sr. Gonzales

la señorita Fernadez

la Srta. Fernandez

la señora Fernadez

la Sra. Fernadez

similar to usted, ustedes, but always Ud. or Uds. (Vd., Vds.) if abbreviated.

I didn't think about typographic errors! The original question was about sr=Sr=el señor with Sr. and Sra. being abbreviations for el señor y la señora.

Are errors de tipografia and errors de tecleo synonymous?
