I would like to say " I promise you'll be the first person I call."

but I'm not sure if I would say "te prometo que seras la primera persona que llamo" or "te prometo que seras el primero persona que llamo" because I am speaking to a male...

could someone help me out?

Hola, Apollo, welcome to the forum!

"Persona" is a feminine word, regardless of whether you are referring to a male or a female. "First" would also be feminine, because it is modifying "persona", and not the specific person to whom you are referring.

"te prometo que serás la primera persona a quien llamo".

I hope this has helped.

I know this doesn't refer exactly to the question, but I'd say the last verb tense is not appropiate enough. As you aren't actually calling that person, I mean, it's just a promise you'll do in case you call someone, I think you should use the subjuntive form: la primera persona a la que llame or la primera persona a quien llame (and would even tell to use the first option "a la que")
