Direct object and indirect pronouns

I know that direct object pronounce and indirect pronounce are used to short the sentences but in the down example i don{t understand
(le di un platano al mono)
why there is (LE) regardless the direct object (un platano) and indirect object(mono) are still exist ......

It's just required in Spanish. If there is an indirect object (el mono) there must be an indirect object pronoun (le). There's really no logical reason for it, it's just the way it is.
