Okay, here it goes one more time. I > apologize because I can’t spell the > Spanish word I’m looking for. I heard > it on a movie I watched about > cheerleading. Lena tells the team > she’s on, in East L.A., that Gloria is > captain while she’s gone. The whole > team says “no” and “why”. So Gloria > turns around walks away and says “guey > dime”. So Lena turns to her and says, > “that’s not very captain like”. In > another part Lena was upset at a party > and her step sister comes out and > tells her not to leave, and that she > belongs in Malibu L.A. So the step > sister looks at her and says, “I’m > your remona too”. That is the word and > what it sounds like to me. So I hope > this is more helpful then the rest of > the times I’ve tried. Thank you

I don't have a clue about the first situation: after what you wrote, I'd say it means güey, dime (dude, tell me) but if she's walking away when she says so, that wouldn't make sense.

About the second one: I guess she says hermana (sister), "I'm your sister too". Does that make sense to you?

I guess she says hermana (sister), "I'm your sister too".

Of course!!!!

She is saying:

Soy tu hermana también.

tu hermana can sound perfectly like turemana, if said very quickly, so finally you got it!!!

Orchid, as you can see, context is essentialgrin

HI orchid, nice post, thanks for trying to use correct writingsmile

Welcome to the forum again.-)

So, we said that guey dime, meant, dude, tell me.

I am not very familiar with guey as this is not used in Spain. In any case, they are telling her this is not very captain like as this is very colloquial and informal and maybe they thought she should use more formal language.

On the word that sounds like "remona" to you I cannot help you, does not sound like anything known here. Ramona is a proper name, could that be it?
