Se usa "Ponerse" con adjetivos de emoción y condiciónes temporales. triste, furioso, contento, mal, serio, molesto, alegre, de buen/mal humor.

probably more "I become like that".
Me puse enfadado. I became enraged.
ponerse=to become, to get (with emotions, feeling)
llegar a ser, hacerse=become president, etc.
