If you want to de-transitivise the transitive verb, "seat yourself" or, more simply, using the intransitive verb "sit (down)"

¡Usted siéntese! sounds very pushy and aggressive, while "Siéntese usted! is quite polite. - lazarus1907, Sep 1, 2010

it is the formal [affirmative] imperative form of the verb : sentarse

¡usted siéntese! [Siéntese usted]

With imperatives you also need to distinguish whether they are affirmative or negative, because if this were a negative command the se would not be attached to the verb.

¡No se siente usted!

Sorry to perform necromancy here, but where does the tilde come from? I see "siente" on the conjugation list, but I do not see it with a tilde. Is it due to the "se" being added to the end?

Yes, when you attach pronouns the stress must remain where it was before they were attached. - 0074b507, Jan 31, 2011
siente... stress on the strong vowel (e) of diphthong....so siéntese to maintain it there. - 0074b507, Jan 31, 2011
Thanks! :) - LiveUnsheathed, Jan 31, 2011
