Thank you very much for taking me

Question

What is the correct, and FORMAL way to say "Thank you very much for taking me"? (as in giving a ride to a location)

Is it correct to say "Muchas gracias para llevandome?" That's what I was told, but it doesn't seem right to me...

Nope, it isn't right. Good catch.

First, when you say thanks for something, it's always "gracias por".

In English we use the gerund form of the verb when we need the verb in a noun form. "take" becomes "taking." In Spanish, we use the infinitive. So your sentence would become "Muchas gracias por llevarme." You do attach the direct object pronoun to the infinitive.

Nor to me. That looks an awful lot like you are using the gerundio for a noun which is incorrect.

Muchas gracias por llevarme. (por is used in Thank you for....)

I think that there are more elegant ways to state it, however. Wait for a native to express it more naturally.

Well once you get there you can just say 'muchos gracias por traerme' - if it is like a fun ride you could say 'gracias por el paseo'. I don't see anything wrong with the 'gracias por llevarme'....
