Sorry for keeping you, making you wait

Sorry for keeping you, making you wait

I'm not sure how to indicate, making you wait. Siento mucho hacerte esperar O siento mucho haberte hecho esperar I think but the translator says, Lo siento por hacerte esperar and google seems to agree with the most hits, but Lazarus yesterday indicated that when not directly saying sorry and when following with a verb you use Siento and not "Lo" siento. Gracias.

"Lo siento" use for i'm sorry. But with "por" -> "lo siento por" not use a lot if not have a pause, for exemple-> Lo siento, por hacerte esperar. The most normal is only "siento" if not have a comma, but is possible:

Lo siento por comer más de la cuenta -> Siento haber comido más de la cuenta

Lo siento por quedar mal con vosotros-> Siento quedar mal con vosotros

...and more
