How to write a Spanish Letter-please help

Okay so I am in need of any help on writing a letter to this person in Spain. They only speak Spanish and I am in desperate need of advice. Is the Spanish letters like American, or are they different? i need any advice you have and also some hint on how i should end the letter (its to a pen pall) Oh and i have not talked to this girl before So PLEASE HELP me raspberry

One thing that most people get wrong is the salutation, which is followed by a colon, and not a comma, like in English:

Hola:

By the way, is it a formal or an informal one? Because the sort of sentences used tend to be different.

Ejemplo (informal style...No date, inside address, etc. All styles/formats exist just as in English)
