Hi everybody! , I´m a native Spanish speaker.
Just as Nicole-B explained, concuño is the relationship between two persons who have spouses whom are brother or sister to each other.
I would just add that that relation ship is not restricted for the spouses to be both brothers or both sisters.
e.g.
Mark is married to Susan.
Robert is married to Rebecca.
Susan and Rebecca are sisters, therefore:
Mark and Robert are cuñados.
Josh is married to Nicole Evan is married to Jean.
Josh and Jean are brother and sister, therefore:
Evan is Nicole´s cuñado and Nicole is Evan´s cuñada.
Peter is married to Mary. Timothy is married to Linda.
Peter and Timothy are brothers.
Therefore: Linda is Mary´s cuñada and viceversa, Mary is Linda´s cuñada.
I hope this helps!
Hi and welcome to the forum,
As it has been explained to me in the past, it is a term used to describe either two women who are married to brothers- concuñas or two men who are married to sisters -concuños. .
My husband has two brothers, so me and the wives of my husband's brothers are considered concuñas. This only used to describe our (my sisters-in-law and mine) relationship to each other.
There is no English word that is equivalent that I am aware of. We just use the term "in-laws" to describe these relationships.
Hopefully, this is not too confusing of an explanation. ![]()
