"como estas" if you know the person well. "como esta usted" if you dont know the person well.

Don't forget the correct form of the verb is "estás" and "está"!
You could say como estas if you know the person well. this is the informal form of estar, the tu form. it you use como esta ud. then you are using the formal form which is the ud/uds. form of estar. in this case it is singular which means it is ud.
as you can see, there are many ways to say how are you in spanish another way of saying it is by basically saying hi and say if they say hi back. ![]()
