How do you say "thought experiment" in Spanish?
Is there a word or phrase in Spanish that conveys the meaning of "thought experiment"?
A "thought experiment" in English is the process of a person conceptualizing something for the purpose of coming to some further conclusion about something. Schrodinger's cat is an example of a thought experiment; Schrodinger did not actually put a cat in a box, but thinking about putting a cat in a box helped him to come up with a theory commonly known to scientists.

I believe it's experimento mental. At least, that's what Wikipedia calls it. (And we all know how accurate that is! Oh, that great arbiter of truth, that paragon of indisputability! Never wrong, it is. Ever.)
Another option might be "Gedankenexperiment". I don't know if that's as widely used in Spanish as in English. (The word, itself, is, of course, German but it's not uncommon in academic/technical circles.)
thought experiment

Hi,
"Experimento imaginario" or "experimento de pensamiento" i think this are a little more closer to the thought thing than "mental".
