Is "habían sido asesinados" the right form of the verb. I would have used the preterite form because of the finality of the act. Can someone else opine? - JoyceM, Aug 27, 2010
My vote is for 'habían' in this context. The 'finality' rule of thumb, is just that, not an extremely precise way to define the preterite form. :) - chaparrito, Aug 27, 2010
