can someone give me a 150 word essay about an average summer so i don't fail spanish?
i'm an average skater kid that lives in montrose colorado. my spanish 2 teacher assigned an assignment which was to write a 150 word essay, in spanish, of what i did over my summer break. this essay doesn't have to be accurate, use punctuation, correct spelling, or in any way be perfect, in fact inexperienced looking mistakes are a good thing because my teacher doesn't require accuracy, it just has to look like i tried, and that i didn't use google translate.

Here is your essay
Dear Slacker Dude,
Do you want to be a poser in the Spanish learning community (because you really sound like one based upon your question)? I think not.
From our comments you are learning the difficult truths about communicating in a foreign language. These are truths that we have all faced and wrestled with at some point:
- You will not learn this instantaneously. There is no pill you can take, no chip that can be implanted in your brain and no injection that will help you understand and communicate instantly in Spanish. If there were, I would have used it.
- You must learn Spanish the same way that you learned English: word by word, phrase by phrase, expression by expression, grammar rule by grammar rule. It is a slow process, but one that will literally open up the world to you (Spanish is the second most spoken language in the world behind Mandarin.)
- You will make mistakes. We all do. This is how we learn. Spanishdict.com is a supportive place for you to make them.
- No one can do the work for you. You must go through the uncomfortable process of not understanding and not being able to communicate yourself. Jump in!
- Believe it or not, it will be easier for you to learn this now, when you are young, than later, when you are older.
One more thing: Life is long and you don't know where it will take you.
In the mid-1970's I took Spanish 1 and 2 in high school in the rural Mid-western United States from a Mexican woman because taking a foreign language was what college-bound students did. It was the only language offered in our school.
Our instructor wasn't a very good teacher and there was no one else in our farming community who spoke Spanish or knew anything about Spanish speaking people or culture except through "Chico and the Man.*"
Let's just say that this was not the ideal environment to learn and appreciate the Spanish language and the Spanish culture.
Who knew that 35 years later I would have a husband who is fluent in Spanish, wanting to share his culture with me, living in Madrid, Spain (the center of the most refined Spanish culture by anyone's standards) and grateful for every single word, phrase and regla that I learned lo these many years ago? By definition, everyone at 16 years of age has a really limited world view. The good news is that it gets bigger if you keep an open mind.
Why not have fun with your assignment and actually try to do it to the best of your ability? You don't know where it will take you in life.
Think of completing this assignment as being like learning to skate. When you started to learn to skate, I bet you were a little shaky, it was uncomfortable and took you awhile to get the hang of it. You needed to practice to get better, you learned tips and tricks and you did so by hanging out with your friends while you learned together. Before you knew it, it was fun.
Guess what? It's the same thing here.

Why on earth would anyone write a 150 word Spanish essay about the events of a summer for someone whom they have never met, owe nothing to and know nothing about (save for the fact that (s)he happens to be an "average skater kid")
More importantly, why would anyone write an essay for an "average skater kid" who might actually learn a thing or two were (s)he to actually attempt the essay for himself (or herself).
C'mon kiddo! A hundred and fifty words is really not that much. I bet you could do it if you were just to apply yourself.
Aw...shoot. What the hey! I guess I can throw a dog a bone. Based on my extensive knowledge of you and your interests, here is your 150 word essay....
There...that should just about do it. I even threw in a couple of extra words for free.
Welcome to the Forum, Ball.... This is a Spanish learning site, not a do-your-Spanish-homework site. But if you write your essay and then post it here, we'd be more than happy to let you know how you did.
I bet you wouldn't be an average skater kid if you took the time to realize that your time and effort are really worth something, and that if you dedicated yourself to do something really well you would no longer think of yourself as average.
You are welcome to learn Spanish with us. We range in age from students to geezers and we have members from all over the world. You just might learn something interesting...
I'm sorry, but that's lame even for a skater. Spanish is the easiest freakin' class in school, and you want someone else to do your homework for you? Dude, if you can't pull 150 words out of the part of your body you land on most, you deserve to fail. Harsh, but true.
Do it, post it, we'll check it.
Forget these lame answers, dude, just share some background so I get this right. How much pavement have you eaten? Ballpark is good, you don't need to weigh it for me.
How high can you ollie? Did you learn this summer or did you bring the game in? No prob landing the kickflips, right?
Tell me you haven't been burned as a witch.
While I am spiting this out can I brag about my tre-flip or am I too soon?
And I just need passing, no extra credit, right?
Perhaps you didn't think of it, but the essay would not be difficult if you write it in English first and then translate it to Spanish (without using a translator).
Grammar is not a waste of time!
Skater Dude, where are you?
Were we too rough on you? Sorry.
Circle back and let us know what you did.
If our comments have convinced you to try your hand at writing your essay yourself, why not post it here for comments and corrections?
That's more in line with the type of support people get from this community.

In life there are no free rides. Meaning: If you cheat now you will pay later. You might as well bite the bullet and do the essay. I actually think you are just 'pulling our chain' here to see if someone would do such a thing. If you are serious though, perhaps you are just lacking self confidence and underestimate your abilities. As the Nike commercial says, 'Just Do It". You might actually feel great and have a real sense of accomplishment.
In answer to the original question:
No.
This is hilarious. The nerve or is it laziness is just beautiful. My suggestion however is so simple and easy. Just write your little essay in English in the most basic English you can muster, and then throw it into a translator like the one provided here in Spanish.Dict. If you have to...throw in a paragraph one at a time via cut and paste from your Word doc, as I have had to do a time or two Then just cut and paste the translation into your new Word doc one paragraph at a time due to word count limits. .
Keep doing that until you have the essay completed and then post it here. We might then consider helping you further.
With lots of love.
ballsackmcgee was "last seen" the day after his original post. At his probable age and probable state of mind, if I had not seen immediate success at the first try, I would have never returned. This thread appears to be dedicated to our own amusement. We should do everything we can to encourage learning and practicing Spanish. We can do very little about members who become disengaged and never return.
