gustar??? why is it le gusto instead of ella no me gusta

Why is "Does she like me?" translated as "Le gusto (a ella)?". I understand that gusto would be the conjugation for the yo form but even then that confuses me because why wouldn't it be "ella no me gusta?".

Gustar - to be pleasing. Ella no me gusta. Gusta = it/he/she is pleasing. She is not pleasing to me. The pronoun is me, to me. A mi no me gusta ella.

Le gusto. le = to her/him. gusto = I am pleasing. A ella le gusto (yo). To her, I am pleasing.

Me gustas. You are pleasing to me. Me gustas tú. I'm interested in you, possibly in a romantic way. FYI. If you don't mean romantically then you should say "A ella no le caigo bien" or "No le caigo bien a ella".

Because "I" is the subject of the sentence.

You are literally saying, "Am I pleasing to her?"

why wouldn't it be "ella no me gusta?"

If "GUSTar" is too hard, try disGUST in English. Would you say "She disgusts me" or "I disgust her"? If you can use this verb in English, "gustar" is used exactly the same.
