Estimado Sr. Villegas

All those "yo" and "él" are not totally wrong, but they sound funny - it sounds foreign. Most natives would not use them.
The word "español" is lower case, like "usted" (even though Ud. is capitalized)
Thanks Lazarus! I made some silly mistakes in that one- that's why I needed an extra look at it! I do have a couple of things that I'm confused about though- I thought that when a conjugated verb could be for more than one possible pronoun that it was a good idea to include the pronoun. I also thought that 'asistir' would be imperfecto in the case because it is setting the scene for the rest of what I was doing and had no definite beginning or end (which I've always learned as being the difference between preterite and imperfect)- same with 'gustarse'. Can you clear that up for me? cheers!
