A - Z Christmas / La Navidad

I'm in the Christmas mood again. I love it and can't wait for it to come in exactly 4 months!

Post a Spanish word and English translation (and picture) relating to Christmas going through the alphabet.

I will start with N:

Navidad = Christmas

These are Moravian stars. Because there was a Moravian settlement near the town where I grew up in North Carolina, we always had a white Moravian star hung from our front porch throughout Advent. Some people call them Advent stars. For more on this: Wikipedia on Moravian stars.

They were quite tricky to put together at the time, since they were made of stiff paper that had to be folded to make the points and then fastened at the point bases with pronged paper fasteners. A real geometry lesson - which was their original purpose.
