Hi, Les, and welcome to the forum.

A bit of context may help. Where did you see this?

Welcome to the forum Les, you can easily find this in the dictionary or since you have already written the word, simply double click the word and it will come up. By the way, the word in English in this case would be hyphen.

In this case, the dictionary function would actually not be very helpful. This is because the word guión typically refers to a hyphen (-) which is not the same as a dash which can be represented by a double-hyphen (--) for an en-dash (–) or as a triple-hyphen (---) for an em-dash (—). Here the prefix em- and en- both refer to the relative length of the punctuation character.

A dash is used in different situations than a hyphen and is typically longer. It is often translated as either raya (or sometimes guión largo)

You might find it helpful to compare the Spanish and English versions of this Wikipedia article: Dash and Raya

For additional information, you might consult the DPD entries for guión and raya which note the following:

guion o guión. Este signo ortográfico (-) no debe confundirse con la raya (—). Ambos se representan por medio de un trazo horizontal, pero el guion es de una longitud sensiblemente menor que la de la raya.

raya. 1. Signo de puntuación representado por un trazo horizontal (—) de mayor longitud que el correspondiente al guion (-), con el cual no debe confundirse.

If you follow these links you can also find descriptions of appropriate usage of each of these punctuation marks in Spanish
