The colour grey

Does anyone know the translation for the colour grey? The site's dictionary gave the translation as 'flock'. A flock of grey geese perhaps ..

I have a rough idea it is something like grece, greece, it sounds like the country Greece …

Perhaps I am missing something obvious … if I am apologies in advance ..

Hi, Pat. Welcome to the forum.

The dictionary gave you the incorrect translation because it uses the American spelling of "gray" for the color.

The word in Spanish is "gris."

Hope to see you around. wink

The dictionary does give the proper translation for grey, but you have to be careful. If you just type in grey and hit return, it will default to the Spanish word grey, which means flock. If you click on the English to Spanish tab, it will return gris. Kind of clumsy, I know, but it happens when there are two words spelled the same in both languages.

I knew it was something obvious that I was doing, I am using standard English … not the American flavour …

Thank you.

Yes, one would think that standard English would give a proper response in the dictionary. - --Mariana--, Aug 21, 2010
