In describing his likes and preferences, in English, someone might say, "I'm more a mountain guy than a beach guy," or "I'm a baseball guy." What spanish word or words would substitute for "guy?"

If its for México, you might use chavo, tio if for Spain, and Marianne's tipo if you want it generic

thanks. Looking for Ecuadorean colloquial or slang, and would it be "tipo beisbol" or "beisbol tipo?" - jim-burton, Aug 20, 2010

Hi, Jim. Welcome to the forum.

I'd say "tipo" or "tío" for these things.

I concur w/ Marianne -- tipo. I'm not sure where "tío" is used commonly. I heard it a lot in Spain, but I haven't heard it anywhere else.
