¨Establecimos en...¨ and ¨Nos establecimos en...¨¨

Hello. I want to express our company is established in 1989 in spanish. When I google establecimos en + el año, the most answer is nos establecimos en + el año. I did not understand why we have to add ¨nos.¨ Dose that mean we establish the company by ourselves? Or when there is no noun after establecer, we have to add reflexivo? Thank you.

You could use passive voice (ser+past participle)

Fuimos establecido en el año 1989. (por agente si quiere)

Nuestra empresa fue establecida en 1989.

Our company was founded in 1989. (por un hombre con solamente dos dolares en el bolsillo). [everyone likes a rags to riches story]

You examples are reflexive: We established ourselves in 1989.
