Is it correct to use SER or ESTAR with "licenciado?" Soy licenciado? Estoy licenciado? (in reference to having a degree or being trained in something)

To build on Q's answer, (as it seems I do from time to time) it seems clear to me when to use ser vs. estar with licenciado.

Licenciado can be a noun or an adjective. If you are using it as an adjective, then you use estar. If using it as a noun, then use ser.

I am licensed - estar. I am a graduate - ser.

ser or estar licenciado

Both, according to this discussion.

Under the CID method of using SER, when you were using licenciado as a categorization (usually as a noun)...I am among the group that can call itself a graduate/scholar ...then you use SER.

When you wish to use it in other situations (usually as an adjective) then you use it with ESTAR. Estoy licenciado. I am discharged from the military.

"Estoy licenciado, pero hace 57 años." with "soy licenciado" is ok, but the most usual is estoy - kawalero, Aug 19, 2010
Several ways to say that: "Hace 57 años que soy licenciado", "obtuve mi licenciatura hace 57 años.", "me lincencié hace 57 años", and so on. - Gekkosan, Aug 19, 2010
