"Las playas ticas..." What does "tica" mean?

I'm trying to read a text obviouslu not meant for beginners - which I am - and I found a sentence like this: "Las playas ticas son un escenario paradisíaco..." Couldn't find anything logical based on the "tic.." stem. One of the translation engines came up with "Costa Rican", which perfectly suits the context of the text. Is that right? If so, is this word really commonly used? Is it some kind of shortened word from Costa Rican?

Thanks for confirming my guess :-) I did some more web research and finally found it in a dictionary: http://www.wordmagicsoft.com/dictionary/es-en/tica.php - esp211, Aug 18, 2010
