Está abierto! (the door)
I have been watching a Spanish sitcom. The woman inside the house hears a knock at the door and shouts ¡Está abierto! (It's open!). This caught my attention because she is obviously refering to the door - La puerta - feminine. To my mind she should have said "Está abierta"
.....but native speakers don't make these kind of mistakes, right?
Should she have said "abierto" or "abierta" ?
Thanks and have a good Sunday.

Está abierto -> El establecimiento, el hogar ( the store, home )
Está abierta -> La puerta (the door), la casa ( the house)
Did you have subtitles on ? Cause I often cannot hear the difference and think the same thing you just thought. Then I turn on the subtitles and realize that the person on TV said it right and I just misheard.
Otherwise I agree with your statement 100%.
"abierto" is a masc./fem. adjective and what if not the door would it modify ?

I believe you missed a few accent marks in your last comment.
Así (for correct stress)
situación (again for correct stress)
éso (not a demonstrative adjective here but a pronoun. I could be wrong though - anymone ?)
I'm bumping this thread because I'd like some more opinions.
In the context above, which would you say and why?
Thanks again folks

Asi que las dos opciones son correctas y depende de como veas la situacion. Eso no se me había ocurrido nunca Kawalero. Acabo de aprender una cosa muy importante, muchas gracias.
Patch, I think that I'd say:
Está abierto or está abierta.
Fifty-fifty
Los dos me suenan bien.
Thanks Stucky, at least I now know that my grammar is okay (but maybe I should get my ears checked!)
