photos in answers

Question

Am I being really silly? I cannot work out how to get a photo in an answer.....

Thank Goodness that I'm not the only one who struggles with that lol :) Seriously , no you are not I still can't add pictures yet and I suspect that we are not alone in finding that diffiicult. - FELIZ77, Aug 14, 2010

No, you're not silly!

First find the photo on the net - if you have a photo of your own you'll have to upload it to a site like photobucket or facebook.

Get the photo on your screen and RIGHT click it - select the item that says "copy image location." Don't copy the image, just the location.

In your answer box, click on the graphic above the box that looks like a TV screen. A dialog box will come up. Right click in the box and select "paste."

That should put the link to the photo in your answer. Look down below the screen you're typing in to see how it will appear.

That should work!

Hi Gatosuerte , can you add a photo to a question ? if you can then of course you can add a pic to an answer with the same way . But if you can't here is how you do it

1. How to post a picture: go to the picture that you would like to add then click on copy image location then go back to your answer you will see a little screen icon beside the numbered list option click on it then paste your URL link.

Lot's of people asked the same question before so your question is not silly it just need a search before posting it

I wondered the same thing for a long time. Here are some bits of advice:

1. JPEG pictures work great. Others, don't even try.
2. I find the picture I want by doing a google search on the word (or related words) and "image." I get a great selection to choose from.
3. I go to that picture. Sometimes the picture is at a blog or website whose web address appears at the top of my screen in the address bar. However, off to the right of the picture is the direct link to the picture. I click on that. Up comes only the picture and it's web address in the address bar at the top of my screen.
4. I highlight it and copy the address, then head back to the spanishdict.com website.
5. Back at spanishdict.com, under "Answer this Question" is a picture icon. I click on that. Up comes http:// in blue. I hit the delete key to remove the http:// because it is also in the address I have copied and I don't need it twice. Then I copy the address from the picture I like into the box. I hit okay.

It works most of the time.

Yay, bien hecho and remember just when you think you have it, it won't work lol - But if you've been doing it fine up until then it's probably not you - some pictures won't be copied because they are under copyright and have been cleverly protected so you will only get the address line of text to paste rather than the image itself.

But don't pull your hair out, sometimes there's nothing you can do to get it to work, you just need to try another picture.

I've never tried the TV thingy above that a lot of people use. I'm sure it works just like they say.

But, it's just not hard to type in the code.

Right click on a pic you want. Copy the location. (In Chrome it says copy URL, same thing.)

I just did it from the front page of SpanishDict and got this:

You know if you did it right because if you paste the address into a browser window, your browser will go to the pic, and nothing else. Once you have that, all you need is the image tags in front of and behind the pic:

img src="http://c.sdswift.com/images/avatars.jpg"

If you take what I just typed, above, and put these brackets at each end: < > , you get:

I usually try to get the picture out of Wikipedia, otherwise there are copy write problems. I put them in, in a different way with firefox and it only works about half the time, so you should try the recommended way first. I have tried up to twenty times before getting a picture in. Sometimes you just have to get another picture. As for using one of your own, Facebook or Photobucket are good places that I am just learning about. Good luck, gatosuerte. It took me a long time to put in pictures and I am not very good with computers. In fact, that is the only thing, that I know how to do with it, so far.
