Which is the best way to translate 'hair conditioner' in Spanish?

Question

I have tried the translation engine on this site and have come up with: mousse, suavisante and acondicionador del pelo. I think that the third one might be the closest one but could a native Spanish speaker please verify this? Perhaps there is another translation that is used by native speakers? Thank you for any help you can give.

WordReference says: "acondicionador m, enjuague m (AmL), suavizante m (Esp)", so I guess it's regional, rather than which one is 'right'. I know this isn't exactly the asnwer you asked for, but I hope it helps a little.

My bottle of acondicionador says Crema Suavizante, Cabellos Secos or Castigados, which I take to mean dry or damaged hair. Not sure about castigados though as this means punished = damaged? I´m not a native speaker but shop in Southern Spain,

My wife is a native speaker from Mexico and she calls it acondicionador.

Yes I think that one is right..

'Secador' would be hair dryer wouldn't it? I am looking for a word, or words to describe the lotion we put in our hair after a shampoo to soften the hair. - Lise-Laroche, Aug 13, 2010
