In it's simpliest form does "Estoy comprando unos calcetines" translate in English to "I bought socks."

Estoy comprando unos calcetines - I am buying some socks
Estoy comprando los calcetines - I am buying socks
Compré unos calcetines - I bought some socks
Compré los calcetines - I bought socks

Unos = some, plural masculine partitive article
Los = the, plural masculine definitive article. This is often used in Spanish where we don't in English, and is not translated at those times, like this one

unos calcetines

"I am buying some socks"... unos = some. - amykay

I thought unos before calcetines is the plural; so the translation is just "socks"

Is it some socks or is it just socks?

KevinB and I seem to agree: unos calcetines = some socks. - amykay, Aug 12, 2010

Rats the simplest concept and I forgot it. The gerund has an ing ending in English. So the English translation would be "I am buying socks." (?)
