"Brief", used in a Spanish-language art class

I'm taking an art class (drawing) in a Mexican university, and in the syllabus, the teacher used the word "brief". I looked it up in the dictionary, but it doesn't list what "brief" means in Spanish. Here are some examples of how it's used:

•Under the heading, "Generación de ideas", it says "Elaboración del brief." ("Brief" is italicized in the original.)

•It also says just "Brief" (again italicized) under the heading, "Al final del curso cada estudiante tendrá que presentar una bitácora/portafolio en donde tendrá que incluir lo siguiente para cada proyecto realizado."

Those are the two times it's used. Anyone know what it means?

Brief, they are using the english word of course, because there is no brief in spanish they mean you have to write a report, and a portfolio escribe "un informe" also you have to add to this some material (photos, etc)

Honestly Son - I am thinking that the reason it is in italics is because it is the English word which she is using. It could be that she is using it instead of 'competencia'... Hopefully someone else will have more ideas....
