Hi All,

I went to Singapore, last Thursday...

alt text

This was my first trip to a foreign country.... It was completely a different experiance to me.... I absolutely love the traffic and transportation system... Other than the traffic signals, i never followed the rules here.... :( From today, i started to follow the road rules smile I felt completely safe to out even at midnight.... And i loved the adventurous rides there(especially the reverse bungee jumping) also the Sentosa island and the shopping malls....... Moreover, since Tamil(My mother tongue) is one of the official language, it was easy for me smile. On the whole, last five days were a different experiance to me...

At first, I was afraid of going to a foreign country, but from the first day, I started liking it...

What was your first foreign trip and how did you feel?

Hola Vaanz,

What a wonderful experience you have had in Singapore! You must of had such fun speaking in your native tongue. If you have more photos, I would enjoy seeing them posted.

My first trip abroad was to Europe. My two friends and I travelled to Amsterdam, Holland. We took a train to Brussels, Belgium and a bus to Calais, France. We crossed the English Channel to Dover in a Hover Craft. We spent several days at each city. We went back across the English Channel and then to Paris, France. After spending a few days there, we took a bus to Antwerp, Belgium and then a train to Amsterdam, Holland. We flew back home from there..

We visited museums, cathedrals, art gallerys, good eaterys, and much more. We made some good friends and have some good memories.

You really saw a lot on your first foreign trip! - Nicole-B, Aug 10, 2010
Sadly, the hovercrafts are long gone. I desperately wanted to ride on one as a child. - fontanero, Aug 10, 2010
I agree with Nicole.... - Vaanz, Aug 10, 2010
The channel was very choppy on our first ride across. A hover craft had turned upside down a few days prior to our crossing. - Brynleigh, Aug 10, 2010

Hi Vaanz, I was in Singapore a few years ago and loved it. It is the safest country in the world. Be careful with their neighbors in Malaysia if you go, we were robbed while there. Trust me, you don't want to have your passport and all your money stolen and left 100's of miles from the embassy. That's another story. Enjoy Singapore. Someone else recommended Little India and I would as well. There is also a big market downtown that is great. Sentosa is muy bien. There is almost no crime in Singapore because of the strict laws so fell free to get away from the tourist things and get into the local parts of the city.

I am so happy that you are having this great experience Vaanz. There are so many people who have a fear of traveling to a foreign country. I guess it is just the fear of the unknown.

My first foreign trip was Mexico. I think this was a good choice because the flight was only a few hours long. Like you, I enjoyed myself from the beginning of the trip. The Mexican people were so friendly and helpful. This was important because at the time, I didn't speak one bit of Spanish. It wasn't until a later trip that I decided to learn.

I think for this first trip, everything seemed surreal. I had seen pictures of the Caribbean before, but even the pictures could not prepare me for how beautiful the blue, blue water was. The ocean at the New Jersey/New York shores near my home is more of a brownish/green color. tongue rolleye It was just so amazing to see how people from a different country lived their lives and celebrated their traditions. I loved everything about Mexico from that very first trip...the music, the colors, the palm trees, the food, the shopping, etc. This trip definitely was the beginning of my passion and desire to travel, especially to foreign countries.

We traveled a lot because my Dad was in the service. Our first foreign trip was to Japan. I remember the taxis and the trains were very fast. The country was beautiful. I enjoyed shopping in the sky scraper shopping malls. I was still in high school.

I just got back two days ago from my first foreign trip to Ecuador! It was absolutely Amazing. Hmm the fruit! Muy ricco! I think everyone should leave the country at least once, just to experience how different people live. It gave me a new perspective on things because they live so much simpler down there but they are still just as happy. It helped me to learn maybe the "necessities" I have here, aren't really necessary at all because in Ecuador I experienced people living with a lot less and they were just fine. I cried at the airport I didn't want to leave. I will definitely go back again.

My first foriegn trip was to Rheims, France to visit my grandfather for the first time. The trouble is, I was only 9 years old so I really didn't appreciate the beauty but the image of this cathedral will be forever etched in my mind. As for travel as an adult, my first stamp in the passport is Turks and Caicos Islands. After that I was hooked on Caribbean travel and diving.alt text
