"On the side"

Question

When in a restaurant, how would someone ask for something "on the side?"

Por ejemplo, "camarero, por favor me gustaría arroz "on the side""

Estoy confudido, gracias por ayudarme

side dish -> plato (m) de acompañamiento or guarnición side salad -> ensalada (f) de acompañamiento or guarnición

You can ask for "acimpañante": Quisiera papas majadas de acompañanate. But that often means it is served on the same plate as the main dish. If you want to specify that you want it on the side, on a separate dish, then it's better "al lado" /"en el lado" - Gekkosan, Aug 10, 2010
