Like "It's about time you cleaned your room!". Ya es hora de que limpies tu habitación. Is that the best way? Is there no way to say "It's about time!!!!" like maybe "Ya es hora" just by itself. Like "we finally won the championship" "it's about time"!!!!!! Gracias. Is habitación the best way for a kids room or cuarto? Gracias.

Para mí:

"It is about time" in this context = Ya era hora.

You know, I think I've heard that.... I think that's something like an idiom for our "it's about time"....... yep just checked Wordreference. Ya era hora is it. - jeezzle, Aug 9, 2010

I would say:

"¡Por fin..... limpiaste tu cuarto!" (It's about time....you cleaned your room!)

"¡Por fin, ganamos el campeonato!" (At last, we won the championship!)

Hola,

I would say, "ya era hora de que limpiaras tu cuarto", but if you mean "it is time for you to..." I would say, "ya es hora de que limpies tu cuarto". For me, "cuarto" is less formal than "habitación", otro sinónimo es "pieza".

Hope this helps.

Cleaned is not in the past. - jeezzle, Aug 9, 2010
What do you mean? Help me out. - LuisaGomezBartle, Aug 9, 2010
Not in that sentence. So what about just "It's about time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" with no other part of the sentence, like does "ya es hora" on it's own work for that? Ok I will use cuarto for kids room and habitación for hotel room etc..... Gracias. - jeezzle, Aug 9, 2010
OK. thanks. - LuisaGomezBartle, Aug 9, 2010
Sometimes we use a past word with present indicators to indicate a present action that should be taken, it's time you cooked that chicken!!!! It's getting late. Not past, just using a past tense for the present use, with a present indicator. - jeezzle, Aug 9, 2010
Cool, thanks. - LuisaGomezBartle, Aug 9, 2010

What about that "a huevo" thing that is all the rage. Limpia tu cuarto, a huevo..... but still that doesn't mean what I want it to, it's about time means like....... Thank goodness that you........ cleaned your room. "Menos mal que limpiaste tu cuarto" but I there is no way to say "it's about time"? maybe menos mal is it. Gracias.
