Great news! My son got into Seventh grade Spanish!

So at the end of school in May I encouraged my son to sign up for Spanish this term, and he got in! Yay! I'm excited for him. I'm thinking of volunteering to help in the class as well, I heard they only speak Spanish during the class. So if the teacher agrees to let me help out, that will be great for me too!

At what age do you start seventh grade? - fontanero, Aug 9, 2010
Hi,fontanero, in the U.S. usually at age 13. It depends on what age the child started school. - revmaf, Aug 9, 2010
I wish I'd started learning Spanish at that age ! Its great for you both. - fontanero, Aug 9, 2010
He just turned 12 in May, though some kids in his year are going to be 13 soon. So the age here is 12-13. - amykay, Aug 9, 2010
That's great, Amy! But once the teacher knows you, you'll no longer be able to do your son's homework for him :-) - 005faa61, Aug 9, 2010
Yes, that's true! ;-) - amykay, Aug 9, 2010
Cute, JC, cute! - LateToDinner, Aug 9, 2010
Lol'@Julian I guess she better start as she means to go on lol and take the SpanishDict approach to helping people with their homework He does it first and she helps correct him lol - FELIZ77, Aug 9, 2010
As his class is a pass/fail, and not a letter grade class, I think I'll let him flounder around a bit, maybe I'll help him, maybe not! lol - amykay, Aug 9, 2010

That is totally awesome!! Ok, I'm so bias but seriously I think kids should take a language, any language!!! I think Spanish is a G R E A T choice but learning another language can open so many doors for you!! Did I mention that I think S P A N I S H is the best choice?!! smile Good for him!!

Great news! I hope that they do only speak Spanish in the class...lots of good instruction and learning with no or very limited English.

I remember having a short unit of Spanish in the 7 th grade with a student teacher. I can still remember the alphabet and a little dialogue she did with us. That is a great age to start. You will learn so much in class. Most schools don't offer it around here until high school.

That is really good news Amy, I can only imagine what it would be like to have another person in the house learning a new language.

I remember 7th grade. We had half a year of Latin and then they decided it was a dead language. (I am dating myself aren't I?)

I took Spanish in 5th and 6th grade but I don't think I can remember much from back then, except that my teacher was super nice.
