Ponte el carbón vegetal, por favor.

Do you mean to actually light them, or just get them ready to fire when the time comes?
If the former, "enciende las briquetas, por favor" (if you wish to be specific about briquttes, as opposed to that other pile over there were you have regular charcoal or mineral charcoal).
If you only have the briquettes, the simplest, most common way to make that request is : "enciende el carbón, por favor".
Finally, if what you are asking is to get the briquettes ready for firing up later, then it's:
"Prepara las briquetas / prepara el carbón, por favor".
charcoal briquettes - "briquetas de carbón".
"Ponte" won't work in that sentence, since it means "put on" in the sense of putting an article of clothing on.
"Enciende las briquetas de carbón" - light the charcoal briquettes. Or "prende las briquetas de carbón" in some regions.
