What is the Spanish word for the son of my niece?

Hooray, my niece had a baby this morning!

I tried to look up "great-nephew" and found through the translation tab

sobrino-nieto

y

sobrino nieto

Are either of these correct? Does it need the hyphen?

Many thanks for your help. ¡Estoy contentísimo a su nacimiento!

That is it, sobrino nieto, very unusual though.

Es curioso, ¿no? Yo he escuchado mucho "tío abuelo", pero creo que nunca "sobrino nieto" - Gekkosan, Aug 9, 2010

It would be just the same thing. That is, the son of your niece is just your nephew, or a new nephew. I've got many of those, and they are just my new nieces and nephews.

According to the dictionary you are his tío abuelo. I am now a tía abuela. - revmaf, Aug 8, 2010
Thank's for that and congrats on becoming a tia abuela. - kenwilliams, Aug 8, 2010
