¿Qué hora es? Beginners game

Spanish 1 teaches how to tell time the spanish way. I thought it would be fun to present a picture of a clock and write out the time shown on it's face. You will also need to write the hour next to the picture such as 7:15am.

Order is not required since just finding a clock with a different time is hard enough. I will give you my example to start it out:

Photobucket 7:45am

¿Qué hora es?

Son las ocho menos cuarto de la mañana.

las ocho menos cuarto, fox, me supongo que tu misma moderas este hilo?? - 00494d19, Aug 7, 2010
Great game, Foxluv. Remember there are a couple of different ways to express time, which may depend on what country you are in. - --Mariana--, Aug 7, 2010
Gracias Heidita and Marianne-I typed cuarto then deleted it, should have gone with my 1st choice. - foxluv, Aug 7, 2010
Sí Heidita, I will moderate. - foxluv, Aug 7, 2010

Son las cuatro menos dieciocho ¿de la tarde? - foxluv, Aug 7, 2010
The 2nd choice is not correct since after the half hour you use menos stating the next hour. - foxluv, Aug 7, 2010
Well, we don't know whether it's in the morning or in the afternoon! I know that the second option is a bit awkward, but I saw it in other posts, so I included it in mine, too! But I wouldn't say it's totally wrong, it's just not used often. - maria_k, Aug 8, 2010

Son las catorce y cuarto. Son las dos y cuarto de la tarde.

The first option is what we would use in Europe in general, but is it frequently used in spanish?

The first clock should be "son las tres y quince" or "son las tres y cuarto." - --Mariana--, Aug 8, 2010

My spanish school textbook shows only 3 singular ways to express time which are "Es la una" "Es el mediodía" "Es la medianoche" - foxluv, Aug 8, 2010
