Your embarrassing moments in Spanish

Tell us about an embarrassing moment in your attempts to speak Spanish. I'll start off:

I was in a Mexican restaurant, the only one in my little home town, where the staff were used to high school Spanish students trying to practice on them Just as well, because I confidently addressed the waiter as "camarón," only to have him reply with a smile, "No, no shrimp." It took a while for me to realize I sounded like I was trying to order something that was not on their menu instead of addressing him as "camarero," "waiter."
