Hi asheley and welcome to the forum. This is a free site. We have Spanish course, a dictionary, games and lots of activities to help you learn Spanish. We also help each other. Why don't you try some of the lessons. Click the Learn Spanish bar on the upper left hand corner. Make sure your upper right corner is set to En español. link text

Thanks. Yes but just in case I want to hire someone personally, do you know how much will it cost me? I've searched the net but so far haven't found the right cost. - asheley10, Aug 5, 2010

You probably won't get a good answer on the price of a private tutor because it depends on many things.

Where you live and the availability of Spanish speaking people. Wages in your location. Qualifications of a tutor.. speaks the language, has a teaching degree or a masters. The better the tutor, the more it will likely cost. Do you go to their place or do they come to yours?

If you have a good teacher you should learn much more quickly and it may be worth it depending on what you need. A teacher will correct your mistakes, where a friend may not.

If you are looking for someone from this site, you might post your location and ask if someone would like to earn some extra money and ask them to message you privately.

An alternative option might be to look for a local Spanish school.

I'd like to offer some real life alternatives to tutoring. Look for your people in your community who also want to learn to speak English and you can help each other.

When I joined a health club I put up a notice in Spanish looking for exercise partners to practice speaking while we exercised.

Where I live there is a community center that offers an Intercambio once a week. Intercambio brings together Spanish and English learners to help each other with conversation, games, and food. It's fun! If there isn't one where you live, maybe you could start one.

Step outside your comfort zone and shop at hispanic stores or attend a hispanic church. Or volunteer someplace that serves the hispanic community.

If what you are seeking is someone to help you pass a class, then you probably need a tutor. If what you are really seeking is practice hearing and speaking the language, these free alternatives are excellent options. You'll make friends and have fun while learning the language and the culture.

Asheley- Are you asking about other outside places to get online tutoring or are you asking for in person? Online there are many and the price ranges from $10 and hour on up. In person it really depends upon on where you live. As I understand it there are not tutors as part of this FREE site, which I greatly appreciate.
