I love to dance. I do not love to dance. And you?

Baile en línea estilo vaquero es divertido de ver. Cowboy line dancing is fun to watch.

Except that in Spanish for some reason it would sound better if you put 'Es divertido ver el baile en línea...' - margaretbl, Aug 6, 2010

Line dancing? A bit long winded but how about,

Danza folclórica en que los que bailan forman líneas y filas.

Shelly brought to my attention my mistake in gender: encanta is proper for females. Is it best to leave the mistake and not do the edit; or is it okay if I edit this simple mistake now and correct encanto to encanta?

Me encanta is for both males and females. I will edit it for you in case it gets flagged. - Eddy, Aug 6, 2010
Gracias. In this case, I will live the editing to the pros!! - bandit51jd, Aug 6, 2010

Me gusta música muchisima. He estado tocando la guitarra hace casi cuarenta años. Escucho a la música constantamente, y tengo una colección de casi diez mil canciones. Pero no puedo bailar ni un poco.

I like music an awful lot. I have been playing guitar for almost forty years. I listen to music constantly, and have a collection of almost ten thousand songs. But I can't dance at all.

How would, "Cowboy line dancing is fun to watch" be translated?

My original question still has not been answered. Any takers!! Remember, this is fun and no one's effort is to be criticized.

Here is my attempt.

Vaquero arruga bailo es divertido veo.

Vaquero – cowboy arruga – row, line bailo – to dance [{in the I (yo) form –AR regular] es divertido – is fun veo – to watch [in the I (yo) form –ER regular]

The way I reach the answer is just my way of learning. It helps me to break down the sentence into it's parts. Please don't feel you have to answer this way.

I know this isn't right but I still ask: How am I doing!! LOL

Because I want to differentiate between line dance and cowboy line dance how about: Es divertido ver el baile en línea vaquero. It's fun to watch the cowboy line dance.

Did I finally get it margaretbl! There is so much to learn about articles and prepositions and the order and arrangement of words!! It's so different from English.

You have been so kind to stick with me. Gracias.

baile vaquero o country en línea - 00494d19, Aug 7, 2010

Hi Bandit, well you are on the right trail, if you double click arruga you will see that it means something else entirely. You will have to stick to 'baile en línea' that seems to be the accepted phrase. I have seen Baile en línea estilo vaquero or just 'country' in English!

arruga does translate wrinkle, line, crumple, crease is why I tried to use it. I like baile en linea better. - bandit51jd, Aug 6, 2010
Honestly, with things like this it becomes quite difficult because for a while they just use the English then something becomes 'accepted' and then there you go - a whole new word. I still remember trying to find 'un parking' in Barcelona and now they - margaretbl, Aug 6, 2010
have a proper Spanish word: un aparacmiento. Things evolve in language! - margaretbl, Aug 6, 2010

"Encanta" is correct. It's a conjugated form of the verb "encantar" (present tense) and has no gender. If you want to say in the preterit, then it would be "encantó".

"Encanto" (with no tilde) is a masculine noun.

"Ella es un encanto"

"El es un encanto"

For now, for myself the preterit is in the future. I believe commenting like this, though, will help others who have knowledge of preterit or are almost to that knowledge. Gracias - bandit51jd, Aug 6, 2010

Hi Bandit, I agree with you - it is fun to watch and even more fun to do! 'Baile en línea' seems to be the translation so you could say 'Es divertido ver el baile en línea country.'

That should be: me encanta/no me encanta bailar.

My original question still has not been answered.

HI bandit, I think people were confused and mislead by the question which looks more like an invitatio to talk about dancing and not a question.

Next time, put the question itself into the title! That is the best way to gowink

I think in any case you did get the answer:

Eddy said:

Danza folclórica en que los que bailan forman líneas y filas.

Margaret said:

'Es divertido ver el baile en línea country.'

I think I missed Eddy and Margaret's commets so I'll look again. Also, I got to thinking that I had worded things in a confusing way, so yes, I agree, I could have worded my post better. - bandit51jd, Aug 6, 2010
I will do better next time!! Also, your suggestion for the question to be in the subject line is good. Sometimes I don't ... - bandit51jd, Aug 6, 2010
...put the actual question there because I think its dull or not interesting. What I will do is put the question at the very beginning and hopefully SD members will keep reading on! Thanks again, and I am sorry! - bandit51jd, Aug 6, 2010
Eddy had such a cool animation I think it distracted me. My room mate and I were in a good way laughing! - bandit51jd, Aug 6, 2010
And I think I skipped over Margaret's because of country. I see I can take from different answers and together reach a valid answer! Again, thanks all! - bandit51jd, Aug 6, 2010
