Translation of this sentence?
I'm not sure if the word in parenthesis is maybe a typo or if I'm just not translating this correct.
El gobierno _______ (tartar) e creat más empleo en las industrías.
Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

I think it should be 'tratar'. That should get you going.
I don't get the "e creat" part; that might be a typo, but it seems that you thought the "y (which means AND)" changes to "e" before words with the "i" sound. That fact is correct, but it should not be used here. The "creat" should be "CREAR" which means "TO CREATE".
So if we change the typo, it should look like "El gobierno tratar y CREAR más empleo en las industrías", which translates to "The government tries and creates more jobs in the industries".
"Tratar" is an infinitive and should conjugate to "trata" to match the subject, "gobierno" (third person present tense). "Tries and creates" in the english version is not right either. We have the idea, but both the spanish and english translations are gramatically incorrect.
Let's change it to this: "The government tries TO CREATE more jobs in the industries". Translation: "El gobierno trata de crear más empleos en las industrías."
To say that the government tried in the past, we can use "querer (to want)", which could also mean "to try (but fail)" in the past preterite tense. Translation: "El gobierno quiso crear más empleo en las industrías."
I just joined SpanishDict yesterday, but I'm no rookie! I have been studying textbooks all year and I communicate regularly with the spanish speakers of my community. I hope this helps! ![]()
