Hi and welcome to the forum,
This article should answer your questions. ser and estar
There is plenty of info already, but her is my fast take:
Ser: to be (in a permanent way) - soy alta (I am tall) Estar: to be (temporarily) - estoy cansada (I am tired)
It's easy to see the difference here:
Soy feliz - I am happy (I am a happy person) Estoy feliz - I am happy now, today.
How you feel and where you are, always use the verb 'estar.' by courtesy of Wenc3 and Who you are and where you are from, always use "ser". e.g. Soy Ken. Soy inglés.
How you feel and where you are, always use the verb 'estar.'
They both mean 'I am'. One is the first person present indicative of estar and the other of ser. For more information on the differences between ser and estar just click on the link below. I hope this helps and welcome to the forum. : )
