Whats goodbye in Spanish

Usually people say adios. but my friend said despidida or something and hasta la vista whatever that is. what do people usually say. despidida or adios?

adiós! : good bye

but there are a lot of ways to say it;

"hasta la vista , hasta pronto , hasta luego , nos vemos..."

Son las maneras de despedir..

"They are the ways to say good-bye.."

despedir : to say good-bye

despedida is the name of the act. So when someone says :

-¿Es una despedida? it means ; "Are you saying good-bye to me?" or "So you are leaving..." you know it's farewell..
